About Ammas kitchen
Authentic South Indian restaurant
Located at 150 Halsey St, Newark, NJ 07102, Ammas kitchen operates as an indian restaurant serving Newark in New Jersey. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
This group covers Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and other Asian cuisines that are not Chinese, and the etiquette varies by kitchen. Japanese and Korean restaurants often take reservations for dinner and may add a service charge for large groups; Thai and Vietnamese spots are usually walk-in and quick-turnover. Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Korean BBQ restaurants typically charge per person for all-you-can-eat service with a time limit, and grills are shared at the table. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. Card and tap-to-pay are widely accepted; cash-only is more common at small family-run counters.

Newark is in New Jersey, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Newark follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I couldnβt believe they had a combo with idly dosa vada and pongal all together for 5$ the food was extremely good, it reminded me of my home. The egg biryani and veg dinner were also too good. The staff was very friendly and calm. I plan on going there for my dinner and lunch for the next 3 days of my trip to nyc. We just need to wait for couple of minutes since it was only two people working there, but the service was really good. I didnβt have to ask anything twice, everything was on the table.

Good indian food at a very reasonable price. We tried their breakfast meal combo. Udit/Medu wada was nicely fried to tge perfect crisp, idli was soft and dosa was nice. Came with thick sambar and 2 chutneys. Veg paneer curry with roti combo was also good. Restaurant might need some sorting and cleaning.
